The Empress

A Nurturing Mother

The Empress values relationships. She finds fulfillment in giving to and being needed by others.

In this video, the feminine white clouds are most representative of the Empress, while the dark cloud may be seen as the High Priestess attempting to become like her. The High Priestess can feel separate, alone, and misunderstood, while the Empress can feel whole and apart of something greater through her connections to others.

The Myth of Persephone

The Empress is similar to the Greek goddess Demeter. Demeter is the god of abundance, fertility, and the Earth. There is a myth in which her daughter Persephone is taken away from her. Blinded by her desire to love and give, Demeter stops giving abundance to the Earth and demands to be reunited with her daughter. She ignores the notion that Persephone is happy and taken care of without her.

Like Demeter, the Empress finds fulfillment in creating, sustaining, and protecting that which she feels connected to. However, she does not like to distance or disconnect herself from the things she feels apart of, even if it is what’s best.

To overcome this, she must become more like the Emperor.
